Welcome to World Culture coming at you from the ATL with Kate and Barry. How y'all doing? Back with another episode. Hope everybody's doing well. How's life treating you? You listeners. How are you genuinely doing? How's the summer going for everybody? Hope everybody's having a good time. And for those of you listening in other, you know, countries, you may not be summer technically, but how you doing? We want to hear from you guys. Uh don't be afraid. We don't bite. So today we're going to talk more about humanity and what we've been talking about. Um Barry made a good point earlier, talked about how people and genuine in general are easily manipulated, which is very true. And I told him I said, Well, yeah, just look at the news. News manipulates the shit out of people every day, and they believe everything they hear. I'm not saying news isn't always lying, but you know. It's just it's easier to confuse. Yeah, it's fear. They try to infuse fear because fear is what ultimately can control people. Nobody wants to be like scared about stuff these days. And generally we fear what we don't understand or know, but that's why knowledge is, you know, you know, good. You know, experience life. Don't live your life behind a screen or a phone. This is my thought that I had last night. I was trying to tell Bad I had a thought last night. I was trying to write it down, but I was halfway awake, so that didn't really work out well. But I had this thought of like, what would truly happen? Truly, like really happen. If everybody's phone was taken away for one week. One week, meaning you couldn't go online, you know, forget laptops, tablets, whatever. I think if you take away the phones, you gotta technically take away everything else. Like you gotta take away jobs too. Because there's too many people that rely on their phones at uh for work. That's true. Well, let's just say, like, you know, somehow you could still get by for a week, you know, without the phone, like, you know, in terms of keeping your job, finances or whatever. That's just, you know, or what if? No, no, no. What if the phone was just a phone? Right, yeah, just a phone. Like just a phone. You know, when me and Barry grew up, that's all we had. We had a phone. It was not uh internet, online. Smartphones didn't come out until I was like uh until I was like twelve, thirteen. Well they didn't have touch screen and shit too, back in the day, right? Um like the first like the first iPhone was till like 2000. What was the first iPhone? Like six or eight or nine. Oh it was around that time, so I was still like twelve or something. Okay. But before that, they didn't have touch screens and all that, so it's like the better they got, the more they made it to where it was just easier to be on your phone or oh yeah. Remember when you had the text, you had to go through the numbers and you had to go through the letter J to get K and You had to do all that shit just to get like so it would take you like ten minutes to spell one word. Yeah, you know, exaggerate. But that's where the abbreviations came in, like people used to just shortcut. But now you go on the internet and people try to correct your spelling. Yeah, you spelled it wrong. It's like you first of all I could tell you weren't born in the you were born in the fucking early, the late 2000s, the early 2000s, because you don't even remember a time. You know, the reason why we came up with abbreviations, that's true. Back then, yeah, we did abbreviations because we couldn't, it took forever to spell. Now they do abbreviations because they're just lazy. Like these young people, you know, WTF and all this other shit, like it's just like, well, they do it just because they're lazy, but back when we did it, it was because well it took forever to fucking and you sure as hell could barely text and drive back then. Yeah, you definitely could. I mean that was that was tough. So let's just say everybody had their phone, but it's only a cell phone. You can't get on the internet. Um you can't even text your friends. Let's just say it's just a cell phone. You can call your friends, and that's it. Yeah, I think I don't know, because I was thinking like when we were kids, like we experienced life. We would go outside, make friends, you know, learn about life and stuff. But if you take away the phones of the people young nowadays, they'd probably just lose their shit, right? A lot of them oil, right? Like they just they wouldn't know what to do. Yeah, most of them would. I agree, dude. I heard some kid the other day flipping out in a store because he was like maybe, I don't know, like 10 or 11, but he's flipping out because the cell phone went dead. I don't know why a 10-year-old has a cell phone, but whatever. Well they love they because they don't want to raise the kids, they just give them technology. Yeah, just look at this shit or you know, preoccupy it. That's another reason why they get used to it. You gotta blame the parents. That's true. There is parents don't know how to raise kids, so they just give them technology and let that raise them, and then they'd be surprised when they if the kid does something like really bad or then they'd be right. Where did he learn that from? You weren't raised that way, no? He's like, I did on my tablet, right? You gave it to me, so I assumed it was okay. I mean, yeah, you're right. But no, if everything had regular, like just the thing, that just goes back to everything just being basic. That's true. Nothing's basic nowadays, everything's overcomplicated. Some things are ba is easier, yeah, but it seems like if things are still easier. Things just aren't basic like it used to be. If it ain't broke, and yet everything we keep doing is to make everything a better version of what we already had. That's true. And technology's supposed to make life easier, right? In some cases it has, I'm not gonna lie. But in some cases, like Barry's saying, it's mu it's it makes it overcompensable. Yeah, yeah, it does. It does. It really does. You know you don't need skills anymore, like can't even write cursive because there's no point in writing cursive no more. I don't know how to write cursive because the technically there's no point in me to read know how to write or read curses. What am I reading that's gonna have cursive in it? I mean nobody really everything's gonna go digital, so while the only time I use cursive is when I sign my name, that's it. Yeah. So it's like why like there's it's certain things that I it's by design, why we're not made, why how they don't do what you said and just make things simple. Yeah. Even people are more scared to like interact. So there was a girl I was getting to know, this is years ago, it was girls I was getting to know online, right? And we were, you know, texting, typing and stuff, and I said, Well, where are we gonna get on the phone call? You know? And she's like, Well, I I like texting and stuff. I said it's fine and all, but we can only get so far with texting. Dude, it took me like months to get her on the phone, and it turned out, you know, she was just afraid, as many other people are, of real interaction with the human. They felt safe with just text messaging. You know, they can't hurt me so much if if it's text messaging. So you don't risk anything. I think Steve Jobs said the other day, well not the other day, he's dead, but he I saw a quote he said where he said, the most disappointing people to me are the people that don't try to risk anything. And I have to admit, like, I've risked a lot in my life, you know. Um I yeah, some were bad decisions, but I experienced and learned so much through this through those risks. I'd rather and like you said, I'd rather try than never have. Like John Lennon said about love, I'd rather have loved than to have never loved at all. Um just daisy. You know, got a doggy following us. Yeah, I mean, you know, man, it's just technology, I don't believe it's it's necessarily helping us. Definitely not. Not civilian, like I know it helps military and you know, flying and all that stuff, piloting and that stuff, but like I just don't think technology, you know, helps especially the young people. Not the society. No, yeah. Not like the society. Yeah, not civilians and society people or what yeah, you're right. You're right. Um, so there's this uh list I found the other day. Um it says uh let's see, I'm gonna read it out to y'all real quick. It just states um brutal truth about people. Number one, the weakest are often most cruel, the dumbest talk the most, that's very true. The most miserable are the most jealous, the most insignificant are the most arrogant, the wisest remain calm, the strongest are always kind, the smartest often stay silent, the happiest live quietly. Um I agree with mo pretty much that. Um that's true, the dumbest do talk the most. That is very true. I've learned that over time. Oh yeah. Just keep yapping. Just keep yapping, man. Not really about anything significant, just you know. Right. Um but even uh, you know, what's a man's true character is revealed by how he treats those who can do nothing for him. Um I heard it a different way. Uh, man's true character is is you can see or see the base of the tr uh man's true character by how he treats those employed under him. So me and Barry have bosses and stuff, obviously. I'm sure those who are listening, you guys have bosses too. Um how that person treats you stay says a lot about that individual. Um a lot of people don't have great bosses, unfortunately. Somebody's a dick thing. They usually show it. Yeah, they usually most nine times out of ten. Well they're hiding something. Oh yeah, I'm trying to throw you off. Yeah, it's true. I've said this numerous times. Like, you know, if you listen carefully, an individual will tell you his their true intentions. Um Yeah, and yeah. But yeah, some people are just oblivious. Tonight we were eating at a restaurant, which I think you may have seen the video that we posted. Um we uh how do I say this? A lot of thirst, thirsty uh ness going down down here in uh Atlanta right now. Um I don't know if they just want to catch a catch a sucker or what. What? But basically, I guess that's where a lot of women that just be throwing themselves body language, they just throw themselves at you. Yeah, like we had a lot of that tonight, which was which was really weird because it I mean, yeah, sometimes, but like tonight was it had no days, yeah. It was a little lot, it was a lot a little more than usual for us. We were laughing and saying, well, maybe the universe is trying to tell us to go get laid or something or something. But anyways, I mean Mariah's taste, but take a table, take what we can get, take what you get, but that's not us. We're not gonna settle um, you know, those who choose to be uh single and then those who just are single because they can't get. Well, I believe me and Barrett, we choose that. Um, because we do get offers and shit. It's not like we don't get offers. You can take anything. Yeah, yeah. You can take scraps all day. You can take scraps all day, man. Some of us aren't fine with the scraps. Some of us have standards. We want a whole meal. We don't want the scraps. And that's the thing. We want we're not asking for crazy shit. We're asking for normal things, like be honest. Honesty is a huge thing, but yet many people are not honest, especially in a relationship. Laziness. Laziness is another thing, whether that it's in bed or uh there's a lot of that, or just take care of yourself. Taking care of yourself, any of those things. You don't have to be like super amazed or take care of yourself, but you can at least do something. Yeah, like you know, wearing sweats all day, like you just rolled out of bed. I mean see a lot of that. People with sweats. But people walk around and they're just like they rolled out of bed. It's like, well, you don't have you don't have more respect for yourself, you know. Like I'm not saying it's wrong to wear sweats and shit, you know, to each its own, but you know You'll never know who you run into. That's true. You never know who you're gonna run into. We were talking about that earlier, you know. We could be out and accidentally run into, you know, potential whatever, you know, girlfriend for one one of us or both of us or whatever. Um but yeah, I mean it's it's um it kind of goes back to what you said about like people being assholes and stuff like that. It's kinda like how people wear kind of tells you a lot about them. Yep. How people act tells you a lot about them. There's no need to try to present your best self these days because everybody presents the worst, like people don't mind presenting their uh bad traits first. Yeah, these days. In these modern times, people present a lot of their, you know, whether that's their outfits, you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but in some chanc cases you can't. Yeah, in some cases you can, you're right. Like how a person carries themselves. Staring you red flag in the face. Mm-hmm. And how you carry yourself says a lot about yourself too. But nobody wants to put the effort to not be a dick to people. Or let me dress a little bit differently, let me get different response, let me do the people don't want to do that these days. Yeah, because in the last episode, it's like being, you know, Barry I believe said, you know, being a dick is the easy part. Exactly. You know, it's being kind and and holding in that, you know, if somebody's poking at you or trying to mess with you or trying to get a reaction out of you, you staying calm, being stoic, yeah, and keeping control of yourself instead of letting them take control over you by getting a rise out of you. It's a lot harder to do those things. Um anybody can fly off the handle. I mean, we see that shit all. If that's the case, everybody should fly off the handle. Everybody should, man. Just be in royal chaos, you know. That's why that's that's why it's kind of easier to respect somebody who's giving you respect. Yeah. Because you know you can just be acting crazy towards each other, but you don't. And there'd be no reason to do that. It'd just be pure chaos. Yeah, it would be. It would be pure chaos. I keep seeing these videos on my phone, you know, going through Facebook of just people just losing their shit. Just losing their shit, which means most people love to watch that, which I'm not gonna lie, it can't be entertaining sometimes, but um, we thrill at destruction and we yawn at the sunset. It's like every pulse apocalyptic world is never or a zombie apocalypse. At some point the enemy's the enemy is not the zombies or whatever, the immediate threat is always the everybody else. Yeah, it's like you think it's a zombies, but there's something deeper behind all it, you know. Some human trucked something up somewhere or did something they shouldn't have done. That's why I don't think we should make bigger bombs, because inevitably we're probably gonna blow ourselves up. You know, I mean a nuclear bomb is one thing, but they're building things that make a nuclear bomb look like a grenade or a a firecracker, you know. Um that's why they don't want wars to stop. Mm-hmm. Yeah. There's money in wars. Look at Vietnam. You know, a bunch of people, Americans died because rich men wanted to get more richer, you know. War in Iran, where every other war in now because they need to they need to invade a country because it has no central bank. Yeah, it's one of the last places without a central bank. They just have to evade. They just have to go over there and establish their world economic new world order that they have to establish over there. I like the fact that we pol America police is feels the need to police other countries, you know? Like I feel like we got enough problems in our own country that need to be taken care of. Like homeless for one. Like we can't. That should tell you everything you need to know. Dude, on the outskirts of LA, there's over 80,000 homeless people, man. Are you telling me our government can't do anything to try to help these people? No, they don't want to. You're right. They don't want to. They could. It's kind of when I get a known people say it's I partly get a knowing with some with some people, not everybody, when they say like you live in the best country in the world, you should uh you should be thankful for that. On one hand, that can be true, but on the other hand, it's a reason why that's not true because we're not even there yet. Yeah. Anyway. So it's like you can't really say that. But that's true. We're not even in the peak yet. Well, yeah, that's true. And going off what Barry said, like people say, I'm I'm I'm living my best life. But these people think like, well, if I post me, you know, having fun and this and this, this is me living my best life. That's you just self-indulgent. You're not living your best life. Your best life is when you fucking help other people. You lift other people up, not yourself. This world is full of self-interested people. You don't need any more. What are you? Are you a self-interested asshole? Or do you actually want to help people? You know, or do you want to do something more outside of yourself? Something bigger than outside of yourself. That's something me and Barry strive for. It's it's not a science. We were not winning, you know, but we're at least trying. And if you don't risk, then what do you really have at the end of your life? Is that it? That's all you're gonna do is work a job and then just die. That's it. There's more to your life than that. I believe God meant us to do more than just work a nine to five and then dig a a six foot hole and be buried in it. I truly believe there's more to life than that. Do you listening? Let us know. What do you think, Barry? I think there's definitely more in life than working. I mean I'm sure that I'm sure when they made jobs that wasn't the higher power in the world. No. Universe saying that's like what I want people to do. Yeah, no, not at all. Uh-uh. No. That's not it. It's not easy. Life is not easy. And we know that. We understand that. Um life is such so weird. I don't even know if I want to come back. When it's time for me to go, I'm not coming. I don't think I want to come back. Nah, I wouldn't mind to go to a better place. Like, you know, heaven or hell. Well, hell, you probably wouldn't want to come back. But, you know, yeah, like I like life isn't meant to be easy. Um but it can be lived. It truly can. Um, my most fulfilling times in my life has been when I helped other people. Not when I got something big or I bought some new gun, even though I enjoy those things. Like that wasn't fulfilling to me. Fulfilling was when, you know, after I got off work the other day, which is a tough one, but I worked all day and this lady had a flat and uh me and my friend we helped them change a flat. I didn't want to do that. My friend was more off to do it than me. Um, but I walked away feeling a little better. Like, you know, you know, I actually maybe helped somebody today, you know, because the lady couldn't change her own flat. So um that was the most fulfilling thing. Of course it may be ten times tired the next day, but um that's sacrifice. Without sacrifice there can be no real victory or achievement. Yeah, we have to be taught how to live, not how to how to really live life. Mm-hmm. It's not really a thing nobody teaches. That's true. But we keep coming back to that. Yeah, they just teach you to go to work. Yep. From school, all that just teach you to wake up early, clock in, and go to work, make money and do it all over again. They don't really teach you how to become your best self. Yep. And maybe in that time you get a little vacation or something. You know. That's true. Even with people with like even the people that have like real that make money with their that go to school and they're really good at school, they have a lot of accolades and stuff under their belt, but they don't be living they'll it's the reason why those people don't be happy. Mm-hmm. Yeah. You see rock stars that have all the money, but they still don't be happy. Yep. Because they're not really living. No. I've worked with those rock stars and they're some of the most depressing people in the world. But that's what makes their music good. But like Barry said, they're not fulfilled because they think once I get to the startup, I'll have everything. I'll be fulfilled. Any woman I want, any car, any amounts of money. But they're not because when they get there, it's it it's not what they perceived it to be. Um a lot of foreigners, for example, think, hey, when I go to America, I'm gonna get famous and rich. And then they get stuck here working some dead end job, and they're like, This is not what I thought it was. Right. Going back to television news and how they lie, and you know, yeah, America's a great country, but you you don't get to just come here and everything's handed to you. Like that's sometimes I want this country to go to shit just so it could shut up a lot of the people that make it seem like, oh, all you gotta do is just do this and do that, and then you'll be just fine. Once you start making the money, everything's gonna change, or like everybody acts like they have the solutions. Yeah. That's one thing I'm tired of seeing on the internet is that you have these people that act like they have the solutions. Or they can just easily say, like, oh, you once you do this, once you get to this level, then you'll be at this certain level. It's like that is not how life works. There's like quick fixes. But there's no real quick fix to life, period. I mean, that's a like he's like very saying, all those things are just lies. Those are people trying to get a quick buck or trying to manipulate you to give them what they want from you. And then uh and they give people some people that have a lot of money, they true character comes out, but then they still have a lot of followers, a lot of idiot followers that believe what they're saying. They're like, oh, I should listen to him because he has a lot of money. Yeah, he has exactly the right, he's a he knows exactly how to live, how to have morals morals and ethics. Yep. He's this person I should listen to. He must be a genius, he's rich. A lot of people worship other people with money, but unfortunately, money rules a lot of people. Yeah, it does. Sadly, uh in in today's world, success looks fight like somebody that's rich with a lot. lot of money and and house and all that I don't know. I don't know how you get the money. As long as you have it, people really follow you. And then that's how you make more money. Yep. You just live off and manipulate and keep and feed people there so they feed people whatever they want to hear. Yep. So they keep coming back. Yeah they keep coming back. You're right. You know and that's just not how I see success. I don't see you know success as a you know American man with his you know expensive car, house and all that. I don't see success like that because a lot of the rock stars I work with they'll tell you that's not success. Even though they're well off and stuff but they're the most unhappy I mean were you even thinking about that when you were a kid when you was like oh I need to be a big house that even on your mind is how one thing about who thinks about grown things like that. Material grown things like oh I want this no you you do want to have fun. Yeah exactly. Shit the only material thing I wanted when I was a kid you know middle school. Right about having a big house life puts that on everybody. Yep. Everybody accepts it. Which is another reason why things won't change. He's right I've never seen some kid rocking around this tent like I can't wait to get me a big house when I get old. I've never kids are all failed adult people trying to get to trying to have something to fight for. Don't miss it. Don't spend the rest of your life hustling because you think that's gonna be your whatever ticket out. You know like people that play lottery every day. They're they're just like hey once I get once I hit the lottery life will be good. You know I can't even bring myself to buy a lottery ticket. It just seems so stupid to me. So you're just throwing money out the window. It just seems like it just doesn't make sense to me it's like how many people play the lottery and you think I'm going to win this one? Yeah dude millions and millions come on man like if my luck and think about it if your luck was that good you would have been lucky other stuff. Oh yeah something would already happen so you wouldn't even need that. Yeah you would have all the money you wouldn't be playing a lottery because you yeah you're right. Yeah good so that didn't even make that's fine so my family members be like I gotta play the lotto or you hear people say the lotto I need to play these numbers. I'm like you just they play like the same numbers over and over. Yeah I'm just like or they play the same different numbers. Oh yeah a lot of people do like their birthdays or yeah they do other people's birthdays. Yeah I just don't get it's just a waste of money to me that really tells me you're delusion most people that think like that I know that they are have a little bit of delusional in them. That's true. They do have like it's something to buy them that I can tell like they don't they're probably just a little off I was standing uh in line at a gas station the other day and there was a guy in front of me to get lottery and stuff. He's like this this this dude the money he handed the guy was three twenty dollar bills and that it was 60 bucks and then he walked away with his things and I'm like dude that guy looks like he plays it for real that means he probably dropped sixty dollars what maybe every every week yeah every week I mean shit dude that adds up that's conservative it's really more than it's probably more than that oh there's yeah there's people that play it every day right that yeah yeah at least a few times yeah at least I mean that's money just going out the window like I just uh because if you spend it sixty dollars a week that's already damn near what three four four hundred dot damn near three hundred four hundred dollars a month yeah four thousand dollars a year shit that could be your lottery win right there just keep putting the 60 aside keep putting that money then at the end of the year you could open it up say oh wow I just won four grand right you know I mean not technically but you know still not a not not maybe not a lot of people but like yeah but shit four grand to me is a lot of money oh yeah you know what I do for four well I mean I see yeah we don't have when you come from humble beginnings as things are you look at money differently oh yeah some people come from humble beginnings and they forget where they come from it's true a lot of people think that money is the only solution to get in the way I remember Chris Tucker said that when his family found out he like got 20 million for a show or something he said his family members all quit their jobs and he told them he said I don't know why y'all quitting your jobs y'all ain't getting any money from me like and he was serious too and they had to go back and get their jobs. But yeah people remember what you did even family they remember how you treated people. That's true. Yeah like if even if I got a bunch of money I remember I remember who I remember who treated who treated me wrong. So I'm like ah you don't need it. You don't mean too you really don't need it. I give you a little bit no you don't need it. Nah you definitely don't need it oh you're right they all come out of the woodwork when you do them right at time I said hello to you and you were sad. Oh yeah man that's worth like at least 20 grand right now that's like 20 grand of work right now. There you go here you go it's 20 grand. Yeah but no man it's just not yeah humanity humanity but um if you don't start talking about it you'll never ever even get there and and we're not saying we have to figure it out we're don't we don't we're just we'll you know we have experience and something you have to work on every day. Yeah yeah I'd rather much listen to a person that has the experience than the person that read a book about the experience you know um anyways um appreciate you guys listening that's uh all the time we have today well um check us out also um you know uh hit us up and keep listening back tell your friends about us and um yeah if you want to subscribe to us three dollars a month uh mean a lot to us uh you could listen to the episode triggers which is actually a really good episode by the way um and then other episodes that we have that we have not really check our Facebook page yep like a page please uh feel free to comment even if you don't like us tell us because we know that if we don't have haters we're doing something wrong so and if you don't have a hater and you're doing something big then you know then you're doing something wrong too so nonetheless thanks for listening ow
